Why would that effect proformance?

Binning means they take the best pieces of silicon and use them for more expensive products. You got piece that isn't as good.

6+2 power phase and silicon lottery, that's the problem plus why did you get that mobo anyway?

If you wanted to overclock your 8350 to 5ghz,(IMO) i would recommend getting a 990fx chipset mobo instead of a 970 chipset mobo if you are gonna overclock your fx 8350 or 8320 to 5ghz and above.

Hey guys, I built a new PC yesterday and I'm trying to get my 8350 to hit 5ghz but it won't go over 4.6 :/ I have the MSI 970 Gaming motherboard and a H100i. Any ideas?

Need to know voltages, temps, etc.

Every chip is going to OC differently, only guaranteed speed is what's rated (4.2 w/turbo for the 8350). May have just gotten an unlucky chip draw.

Most people haven't been getting 4.7Ghz+ 8xxx chips since the 9xxx chips came out because AMD kept them all back to become 9xxx chips. It's unlikely that even if you got a different board that it would make any meaningful difference.
