Why does multi monitors cause high temps

so i have my 3 screens on one of my 280xs and when all 3 screens are on the temp is 50c and core clock is at 500MHz at idle but with one screen the temps are 35c and core clock of 500MHz so why is there such a higher temp differences also the usage is the same at 0%

Because all that data going to your screens is coming from your graphics card.

 

Just because nothing is actually moving on your monitor doesn't mean nothing is happening

I really have no idea though. No experience with AMD products other than a single 7850.

Because on multi screen setup, the memory clock won't downclock to maintain stability, hence higher idle temperature.
