Asus X99-A anyone?

Go to solution Solved by jezza39,

IIf you are on a budget, you are going to get a x97 board... If your getting a X99 board... You want high end performance, and the Deluxe, ROG, and WB DELIVER!

Not really, there's no point throwing money at features like 4-way SLI/Xfire, a zillion SATA ports and AC wireless if OP isn't going to use them.

I have it, it's great, no problems at all which I guess is the best thing a mobo can do. If it has features you want, like it does for me, then it's a great buy.

The reason I went for it over the similarly priced GA-X99-UD3, GA-X99-UD4 and MSI X99 SLI Plus because it has a POST LED readout, and over the ASRock X99 Extreme6 as the white/grey suited my build better.

TL;DR - it's a great buy for the $$$

So I've been wondering, everyone on the internet focuses on the X99 Deluxe, while the X99-A seems almost non existent.

Google returns no reviews or opinions on this, although it looks like a good deal if you don't need the extra features of the 399$ Deluxe.

In other words, is something wrong with the A? If someone has any experience with it, is it a good motherboard? I have ordered it today for in-store pickup, but would be nice to have an opinion before buying it.

IN SHORT: X99 Deluxe is just.... good

The x99 Deluxe shows very consistent overclocking, stability, and features.

The reason you don't see it selling is that its in a market limbo land.

If you are on a budget, you are going to get a x97 board... If your getting a X99 board... You want high end performance, and the Deluxe, ROG, and WB DELIVER!

The X99-a has the same vrm, the deluxe doesnt offer any useful features over the x99-A.

I guess my personal experience does not represent the product as a whole (I tested the x99-A VS Deluxe and ROG with the 5820k)

Stable OC's hit roughly 4.3-5 with a lot of tweeking on the x99-A, while the Deluxe and ROG hit 4.5 no problem.

That being said, it looks like it could have been a operator error. When I get a chance I will run everything again ( I got a 5960X on the way for my personal build XDDDDD )

From what the other users have said, it looks like a X99-A is a great board. Its a 300$ Asus, So who is really surprised :)

Oh. Didn't even know or expect there to be an X99-A board. I don't get the sense of "budget" for enthusiast 2011 platform. Guess I'm wrong though.

Enthoo Primo - ASUS Maximus Formula VII - 4790k 4.8ghz 1.28v - EK Supremacy Evo Clean - 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical - 1000w EVGA Supernova Gold - 2x Alphacool Monsta Rads in push/pull - 2x Galaxy 780 HoF with EK waterblock

Exactly, the board has more features than I actually need for now, and I have no intentions on going more hardcore than 2 way SLI at most.

Set it up yesterday, no problems so far, I find this board to be a great value for money just like the z97-A. Beautiful in terms of connectivity, BIOS and aesthetics.

And dat responsiveness, I finally replaced my s775 2.2G C2D! Only the 970 to complete the upgrading fest.

970s are out of stock everywhere :S I'm glad I pre-ordered my ASUS Strix when they first dropped cos those baby's sold out in 24 hours.

X99-A is super solid, there have been a few BIOS issues with the Deluxe I hear, but I haven't come across them yet.
