How dangerous is gpu sagg

MilitantCro

Hello.

I got a new Asus strix gpu and on the right end it sags a little like 6mm,which i common with the huge asus coolers.

How bad is it for the gpu to sag, does it affect the lifespan?

Would like to hear your experience with gpu sag.

Not, don't worry about it.

But for aesthetic reasons I would use some fishing line to hold it up

I used to have sagging issues with my old Windforce 7870 cards, but since I got a newer  Windforce R9 290 it has a metal bracket/brace along the outside which seems to fix the issue (in my experience).

Well i cant say it was because of sag but i did have one of my 780 lightning's mysteriously die. It sagged about the same as yours, i sent it into msi and they never really did pinpoint a reason but they warrantied it and sent me a brand new one :/

I understand that GPU sag isn`t really something to worry about, but can it affect the integrity of the motherboard`s PCI slot?

Have you ever tried ripping off the PCIe slot off an old motherboard? (If you had you would know that its attached quite solidly) -- Basically, no the PCIe slot is quite sturdy.

I can verify this. I tried for ... experimental reasons and it took nothing less than a big pair of pliers or a hammer.
