Here i have the crystal disk mark results and based on what ive seen they don't seem to be any faster than a non raid setup.

Also some additional info I'm running these on an Alienware m17x R3 with 8GB of ram a 580m gpu and a i7-2630QM processor with the latest bios and intel raid driver i could find.

If anyone could give me an idea as to what I'm doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated

^Nope, people still ignore this and do it, and get great results.

Did you test a drive in that laptop on its own first to check speeds per single drive or just throw them both in straight away..?

Could be Sata2 controllers holding you back, or the Sata3 controller is running in Sata2 mode, been reading about ... seems few issues with sata is common.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
