Dear, Linus forum users.

I've been working on a new PC build for a long time. I've never really had a computer before.. Except my windows 98 and a Imac for work.

I want to build a PC for Gaming / Editing. I'll be using one monitor: 1920x1080. 24" I might in the future buy another monitor for Youtube or any other site that helps me with what I am doing (I'll only use one monitor for gaming!)
I am not really good at knowing what is better but for now I'll be using Windows 7. Since I have used that on my Imac.

This is my current build.
Every single part in this build isn't definite.

PS: I had the ASUS ROG MATRIX GTX780TI on my list but I couldn't find it on the PCPartpicker.
My problem is that I can't choose between the GTX780TI or the GTX980 Or should I wait for a newer card? This build isn't in a rush.
If needed I could wait another month or 6. I do prefer to build this PC before the 24th of June 2015.
One monitor 1920x1080p.
Windows 7.
I can spend up to 2500.

I have 2 issues with your list: there's no SSD, which is insane for a 2000$ build and there's no aftermarket cooler, which once again is a bit insane considering the Z79 motherboard and K series CPU.

This build is for:
Games I'll be playing are probably a lot of new Mmos coming out in 015 and ofcourse Video Editing.
I've never had the chance to play them at high settings and I think that with my current budget I can play some games on medium/high settings.

I wasn't sure where the cooler option was: Be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 is the current cooler on my list.
I've had a lot of people telling me to not take the h100i. Since I am a newbie at Pcs and don't know a thing about watercooling.
I forgot about the SSD. this one is on my list: Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW, 250 GB SSD.

Here is the list I have on my computer. This list was made before the 980 release.

1 x Corsair 16 GB DDR3-1866 Kit
1 x ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO, socket 1150 Motherboard
1 x be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3
1 x Intel® Core™ i7-4790K
1 x Corsair AX760, 760 Watt
1 x Western Digital Black, 2 TB HDD
1 x Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW, 250 GB SSD
1 x Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case
1 x Samsung SH-118BB/BEBE, DVD-ROM
1 x ASUS ROG MATRIX-GTX780TI-P-3GD5
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
1 x ASUS 24" Gaming Monitor VG248QE

Budget?

I prefer not to spend more than 2500 I believe this to be about $3179
Sorry for my bad English. I am from the Netherlands. If I made any mistakes please tell me!

Get the 980.

A brief explanation why, would be nice.

Right now the 780TI is still in my head; the 980 is a lot cheaper but I've heard a lot of good things about ASUS (I've never had ASUS before. I mentioned that this will be my first PC) GTX980 / GTX ASUS780TI / Wait for newer cards. - (not sure if Asus will release a gtx 980 but if so; would that be a taker?) if any of you have problems with the parts on this list. Please tell me!

edit: Sorry for the double post this should've been placed in my other post.

There have been hundreds of posts about gtx 980 vs 780ti and the specs of each and why the gtx 980 is better, a quick google search would have shown you why.

1. 4gb Vram vs 3gb

2. Although less cores the cuda cores on the gtx 980 have been improved by 40% over the 780's.

3. Newer, will be relevant for longer and will be updated for longer.

4. Slightly better frames in most things.

5. Overclocks like a beast especially compared to the 780ti.

6. Newer technologies that do not exist on the 780ti.

If you want value for money (Who doesn't) then go for the GTX 970 instead. You get virtually 780ti performance at a fraction of the cost.

Apparently you haven't read everything. I do want to thankyou for telling me about the differences between the 780ti/980. I'll remove the 780ti from my list. But I also said I still have until 24th of June 2015. That's why I asked 'or should I wait for newer cards'  Ofcourse always waiting for newer cards isn't the best solution. But that is exactly why I came here; to find out what you would do. I also forgot to mention that I have never ever overclocked a PC before.

I've read a lot about this. I also know that I'll have to upgrade my PC later on. What I do not want is to upgrade after 1-2 years (if possible) Thus why I chose for the 980 instead. But I will add the 970 on my list so that I can think about it. Saving money is always nice. It's just that I got about 2500,- to spend.
