I am looking to assemble an apu budget build for a friend. We don't need anything crazy, the machine is just meant for general usage (browsing and storage mostly), no gaming whatsoever and maybe some really light video editing. I don't want to go for a discrete graphics card as there is no need for one but I do want 4 or more cores and 8GB of ram. Suggestions for a decent motherboard are welcome (preferably small factor ones, itx if possible). Suggestions for an Intel system are welcome as well but no 2-core CPUs please. Budget is 500$ (for the whole system) tops windows NOT included but I want to go for as little as possible. I am NOT going to overclock the system at all, I just want the least troublesome parts for a machine that is going to be used by a non-techie who lives quite far away from me so I cannot help easily if problems do surface. Thank you guys in advance  :)

Why do i always get blue screens? Why not a red one for a change?

Just do like I did. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/cXkTwP

Remove the Windows and it should fit in your budget. However, if you're not doing any gaming, and just do a little video editing you should go for an i3. Yes, they are dual core but at least they have HT.

I just hate the notion of a 2 core. I am thinking 5800K or 6600K. Which one do you suggest?

Why? An i3 performs only marginally worse than an i5, but better than the FX6300...
