So I am thinking of 2 different options. The first is to get a $100 headset. The second would be to get a $50 headphones and a $50 mic which are about $50. I enjoy comfort and will be using these for sitting at my desk playing games such as cod battle field Dota 2 and a few other games. I do a lot of skype with friends. I listen to music sometimes but this isn't a priority. Some headsets i have seen are hyper cloudx corsair 1500 steel Sires Siberia v2. I don't have a soundcard but i do have a mother board that has build in audio and 7.1 capable.

The HyperX Cloud is easily recommendable if you want to go the headset route.

For headphones and a separate mic, getting a Zalman Clip-on would give you a nicer budget for the headphones. Sennheiser HD 518 is the typical budget recommendation (Pioneer SE-A1000 has jumped up too much in price recently).
