astro a40's aren't even that good sound quality wise so you probably never had good headphones.

I hope you like them, because they're very bad for what you pay for.

Virtual surround is crap, modmic exists, I personally prefer Blue Yeti or higher for a mic (standalone mic).

W/e, as long as you're happy with your setup.  :)

Oh yeah, I remember your old thread now.

I'm not sure if it's much better though. Just got so-so reviews on Gearslutz. Some conflicting opinions from Youtube/sites/etc. I don't have enough personal experience with various mics to tell. It's typically harder to play back recorded music well than it is to record a music well as far as tech goes... so it's a little odd to have a mic that's much more expensive than your headphone (especially at those price points).

Oi, edit...

The Astro A40 is $220? Lolwut, too much for too little...   Oh well.

For sub $500 headphones, I take into account price. There are many options under 500 bucks, so a headphone has to compete against all the other ones and still come out on top - I don't think the Astros would come out on top.

i hurd dat if u ware ache dee aight hondreadz, mistur layz will giv u 255 canade-ian dawllahz.

It's actually a bit of sarcasm on my side. If you're presented with the choice of HE-400 @$300 and Astro @$80 cheaper, which would you go for? My choice is the same....

But enough of the bashing. OP got a new headphone, so just let him have the day....:)
