It is a laptop, They will rarely even get up to 60 degrees C..

You are getting Thermal throttling.

get a cooling table first off, you can get a nicer one for like 25 bucks.

also make sure everything is set to max performance in your power plan

You are getting Thermal throttling.

You guys clearly didn't read the OP. If his temps are normally around 80 degrees then saying that his laptop throttles at 60 C is stoopid.

Im not sure what everyone is talking about but cpu's and gpu's don't throttle until they hit 90c, at least in laptops. My play LOL all the time and his laptop runs around the temperature of the surface of the sun. 90c

Id advice you to open the laptop and remove the dust.

Fallow these insctructions But Do NOT unscrew the motherboard or even touch it, It is sensitive.
Also, Be careful, If something breaks there wont be any going back.

You can also use a air canister and blow out the dust if you dont want to poke around as much with a screwdriver.

@Johannes_Lazor

How the hell is it rare for a laptop to get that hot? I have always had my laptops be close to 80c+ when gaming on them. I don't think you have had much experience with laptops and suggest you not give advice to something you don't know. He isn't thermal throttling if it just started happening. Granted changing the thermal paste and cleaning out the laptop wont hurt, they usually put too much thermal paste. That more than likely isn't the issue here, if he is staying at 60c he is not throttling. No where near throttling temps.

Actually from my experience laptops run infinitely hotter than the desktop counterparts because cooling is usually two little rinky dink fans

1. I have rarley seen laptop CPU or GPU staying under 60 degrees.

2.You said that his laptop is throttling when the TJ max for most recent Intel CPUs is between 95 and 105 degrees. That's when they will throttle.

3. I didn't meant to be rude. It's just that there are so many folks here that claim stuff and didn't even read the OP correctly.

No problem, these guys above freak out when most problems are simple to solve. You always go through simple solutions to fix problems first before you go the more extreme options.

@Keyboard Warrior

 You are 100% correct sir, he doesn't know what he is talking about. See how simple I solved the problem? Instead of telling the guy to take his laptop apart which wouldn't have done much, I actually knew what the problem was and didn't just spew what I had heard around the interwebs.

I've worked on a lot of low end laptops, had a bunch myself and had high end ones. I know the temps they get and usually what is wrong when they perform slow. :P Don't feel bad, I've fforgottenabout it before. Sometimes windows likes to change it for you and I've ran into the problem myself in the past. Simple fix. :)
