My Pc restarts itself after a few minutes of playing some games (CS-GO; GTA4; Borderlands 2...). When the game has been running for 5-10 minutes my PC just shuts itself off and back on again. I have run some stresstesting software and Furmark crashes my PC too so I assume it's a problem with my GPU (not getting the amount of watts it needs). I have also googled my problem and read that it could be a problem with my PSU not delivering enough power.

My specs are:

Windows8.1 64bit running on an SSD

MSI Z77A-G43 Motherboard

4x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM

i7 3770K with a Corsair h80i

nvidea gtx 670 with a kraken g10 and corsair h50

2 SSDs

1HDDs

and up to 7 peripherals connected at the same time

(keyboard, G13, mouse, headset, controller, microphone, phone)

I know my phone doesn't count as a peripheral but it draws power so yeah

600W bequiet Straight Power

As I already said: It could be a problem with my PSU but I don't know for sure so I wanted to ask you guys for help.

It is also apparently getting worse. Literally 2 days ago I could play Team Fortress 2 just fine but yesterday it started crashing too.

Thanks for reading.

Does it freeze and crash or just immediately crash? Did you get a blue screen? If it freezes then crashes it might be a GPU issue instead.

It goes like this:

Black- or bluescreen, sound keeps playing

sound stops for a while and then plays again for a while while still stuck in black screen

PC actually turns off (fans stop spinning and stuff)

PC goes back on and boots like nothing happened

your PSU is good enough no doubt. I think it has to do  with your GPU.

I hope I didn't damage it when putting the g10 on :/

have you overclocked your gpu? i have had the same problem with my asus gtx 670 when i had it overclocked.

if you've overclocked it, reset it back and see what happens.

It is not overclocked. I don't even really know how to overclock a gpu effectively ^^.

Is this happening after a clean install of windows?

Or did it just randomly start happening?

Have you been doing some work on your PC?

You might have made a derp somewhere?

I have been using this PC with almost the same hardware for about a year I think.

I can't really tell you when it started happening but it wasn't too long ago.

I can also tell you that originally I didn't have all those fans and a liquid cooled gpu (kraken g10 with corsair h50). I installed my new fans and the g10 some months ago if I remember that correctly. So it could be that the problem started at the same time, I can't say that for sure tho. Maybe I damaged my graphics card during the process off pulling the stock cooler of and putting the g10 on. hmmm

Edit: I have also redone my cable management at some point.

Sorry, but are you talking about updating them or a complete reinstall?

complete reinstall.

Could also be a failing HDD. I had similar problems when my HDD started to fail, while my game wasn't installed on it nor my OS. Possibly a few drivers were.

At first PC only crashed at seemingly random times under load and it gotten worse and worse till it failed to go past the login screen of windows.

At first I thought it was caused by my GPU / graphics drivers.

But when I took out the HDD everything worked fine again. (didn't have reinstal much as most wasn't saved on my HDD, except most games).

Sorry for being a noob but how should I reinstall my graphic drivers.I mean what happens when I just uninstall them. I'm really scared of screwing things up ^^ @SeanAngelo

go on control panel, uninstall a program, find the nvidia drivers, uninstall them, once it finishes restart your computer, then go to the nvidia drivers page and download the latest one there and run the process again :)

Reinstalled my drivers. Didn't solve the problem :(

Thanks though.

Try turning down your graphics settings in game and see if the same thing happens, if you have an old/spare gpu kicking about it might be a good idea to hook it up temporarily to see what happens. Another thing to check is how many watts your psu is actually pulling at load.

CPU - i5 4690K l GPU - XFX R9 280X l MoBo - ASUS Maximus vii Ranger l RAM - 8GB Vengeance Pro l PSU - Corsair CX750l HDD - Seagate Barracuda l CPU Cooler - Custom Water loop Case - Corsair Air 540 l OS - Windows 7 l Mouse - Mad C.A.T.Z RAT 3 l KeyBoard - Razer Blackwidow Chroma

So like putting an ampermeter between my pc and outlet?

I'm also gonna try turning my graphics settings down thanks :).

Sadly I don't have any other gpu I could just put in there so that is not an option.
