ASUS STRIX-GTX970

Not a reference PCB, no. You would have to wait for an aftermarket block to come out for it.

This card is not available yet in Canada so I will have to wait but in the mean time I would like to know if this is a reference pcb or could even work with an EK water block?

Why get Strix if getting waterblock full reference would be better and cheaper cause Asus may use a reference PCB and minor changes (but I don't believe they use reference PCB at all), and pricing is between 780 and 770

Because I have already been told that for a x-mas gift I would be given a water block so I want to buy something to use until then because right now I have no card due to it dying.

STRIX MASTER RACE. Why buy suck a nice card C/W nice cooler just to rip it apart and slap a water block on it. Come on man.

Because a waterblock is much nicer and because I never look inside my case. I look for performance over looks.

Kingpin LOL that card was such a waste last series. Reference got about the same performance under water.

You clearly dont understand the purpose of the Matrix, Lightning and K|ngP|n cards.... Also reference didnt get the same performance on water if you actually used them correctly

Boutique cards like the ARES, Lightning, Matrix, Kingpin etc are are well and good but at the end of the day they are just pricey niche products for snobs and ignorant people. High clocked cards with binned chips like that found in the EVGA FTW line and Asus TOP or STRIX are what smart people buy into. Heck I am getting an Asus STRIX 970 and I feel bad sorta cause I know that in the end I am just getting better build quality and lower fan noise.
