Hi guys!

A friend of mine has some problems with his pc. He wants to play arma 3, but he is unable to get more than 25fps. His PC

Motherboard: Asus M4A87TD EVO Sockel AM3

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Prozessor

GPU: GeForce GTX 550 Ti

a 1 TB harddrive and 8GB Ram (don't know the brand though)

Can you help me with finding a good graphicscard, or what to upgrade in general)

BTW: he wants an SSD. Any tips? Budget for graphicscard is 350€ (around 400$). The rest depends on what he needs.

They all run on PCI 3.0, his motherboard says: 2x PCI 2.0 x16 is that a problem

Eh, I mean you may be losing a little performance, but most GPUs including the 970 is backwards compatible. Correct me if I am mistaken

It is backwards compatible and most single GPU cards don't even fully use the PCI-E 2.0 bandwidth anyway.

I'd get something more midrange (GTX 760 (or even 750 Ti)/ R9 270x/280x), which is still a massive improvement over his current card and then do a platform upgrade to something with an i5 or similar.

Edit; As for the SSD the Crucial MX100s seem to be one the cheapest around and are great little performers :)

It won't be a performance hit at all

Well fps issues is a grapchics card issue, kind of self explanatory. Go look for some newer GPUs :)
