I am upgrading my old rig from a GTX 460 to either GTX 970 or a GTX 780.

 

I'm still stuck between picking between these two. 

 

 

I have 8GB of ram and i7 4770K 

 

 

Which of the video cards above should I pick up. GTX 780 or a 970?

970 all the way

I'd go more towards a 970, but I haven't seen any reviews yet that state minimum FPS so it's not an entirely informed suggestion.

Max FPS though, 100% 970. Overclocked it can have a pretty healthy margin above even a stock 980.

970 FTW!

 

970 is the better choice.

But somehow GTX 780 has higher memory bandwidth and memory bus, with better texture rate, texture mapping units, and shader processing units. and higher price, so... yeah

The higher price is because of the ranking. It's a 780, not 770.

I suggest reading Linus's review on the card, it will answer a lot of those statements

Also...don't you research what you buy? The card beats the 780 in pretty much every benchmark.
