Hello! I'm new to the forums,

I'm looking for a new Power-Supply-Unit to fit my custom build, as I wish to upgrade to a 650, or a 660. (Preferably the 650 as I don't have much cash at the moment)

I'm running my computer on a Xigmatek 400W PSU at the moment, it's bent at the side and is an awful PSU.

I was looking around for a 500-600W PSU, as a 650 and an FX 4100 sat at 4.2GHZ shall run fine on a 500-600W PSU.

I managed to find a cheap offer from Dino-PC (I know right, their prices are usually off the roof)

I found a Corsair VS 550W PSU, for £30.00.

Which is a total bargain for me, as I'm just looking to upgrade to a 550W.

Although, I realized that it would cost £38.00 including delivery and at the moment I recently purchased a new keyboard and I don't have alot of money.

So I continued my search on Corsair Power-Supplies on Dino-PC's website, and I came across a 450W Cosair VS.

I was wondering, the PSU comes with all the necessary cabling such as 20+4 PIN for the motherboard, and comes with a 6 pin PCI-E connector for my GPU, (650 runs the same)

Would a Corsair VS 450W be able to run these specs? And be able to upgrade my GPU to a 650?

AMD FX 4100 Quad Core (Bulldozer) @ 4.2GHZ

Asus GTX 550 TI 1GB

Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHZ

Asus M5A78L-M LX V2

Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD

Seagate 250GB HDD

If so, I could purchase the Corsair VS 450W now.

I know it would run these specs easily, but would it be able to handle a new GPU upgrade to a 650? Instead of the 550 TI?

Thanks guys! ^_^

The Corsair VS series are rather poor choices. They are low-end CWT GPA units, which is also used for the Chieftec iArena units. They aren't so bad that they will necessarily set your house on fire when fail like some trashy units, but they are just a step above that...I would look at something else. The XFX Core Edition 450 v2 should be around £36.54 @ Scan.co.uk, if you can buy from there.

How much can you spend?

The XFX PSUs are a great choice and basically the only brand I recommend these days since they are Seasonic all the way.
