So I'm upgrading my computer for around 550 euro/£470/$714

Here's what I'm looking at so far. Pretty confident about the graphics card but the other parts I need confirmation and assitance :\ Hope you guys can help

7870 Tahiti Le edition - http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/XFX+Double+D+Radeon+HD+7870+GHz+Edition+%28Tahiti+LE%29+OC+2GB+GDDR5+Graphics+Card+%5BFX-787A-CNAC%5D+%2B+4+FREE+GAMES%21+?productId=55140

8GB of 1866Mhz ram (I wanted to get 1600 but on the same website, the 1866 costs the same so I might as well. And I don't want to buy ram from another website because of shipping) - http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/8GB+Mushkin+Enhanced+Redline+Frostbyte+%23997007+%282x4GB%29+1866+%28PC3-15000%29+240-Pin+DDR3+SDRAM+CAS+9-10-9-27+1.5V+?productId=45903

FX-8350, 6350 or 4350 (Really need help choosing these. I'm going for AMD because I don't really have the money and also I believe that paying the extra money isn't that worth it. Like the 6350 is 100 euro away from a i5-3570k but in terms of performance the 6350 is probably better value. Also thinking about how more games will be optimised for the AMD platform because of 1 console being 6 core and another 8 core. So will the last 2 cores even be ever optimised on that platform so should I get 8350 or 6350. Or is that overkill of gaming anyway and shoud I just get the 4350. Or am I even making the mistake of choosing the highest end part and go with something like a 8300??? Really need help)

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 (thinking about UD3 because of my budget, anyone know how well it overclocks? If I can get 5Ghz, that's probably more than what I will need so that would be perfect) - http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/AMD+Socket/Socket+AM3%2B+Piledriver+FX/GIGABYTE+GA-990FXA-UD5+AMD+990FX+%28Socket+AM3%2B%29+ATX+Motherboard+?productId=55019

Any help or comments at all, appreciated

I'd take the 8320 and overclock it to 4GHz.

The motherboard will be more than adequate for 4GHz. I'd get the UD5 though. And the 8350 is essentially a slightly overclocked 8320. Or another way of putting it...an 8320 is a lower clocked 8350.

The 7870 is not a Tahiti LE version. It is the Ghz version, which performs great. I own this card and I must say it is a very good option, but I would pick a different brand, like ASUS because XFX has the voltage locked, so you won;t be able to overclock it to the max. However, it is still a great overclocker.

As far as the CPU goes, go and get a FX 6350 or a 8320 if it is close to the 6350's price.

For CPU cooler I would recommend this one, it performs better than the H80, which is liquid cooling.

If you got a 500W Bronze PSU or more, you should be fine. If you don't I recommend the Corsair CX500M.

Hope it helped.

CPU: AMD FX-6100 Black Edition @3.9GHz GPU: XFX 7970 DD (1062/1520 MHz) MOBO: ASUS Sabertooth 990FXA(1st Revision) RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB @ 1333MHz Storage: Corsair Force 3 120GB(Boot) + WD Green 1TB(storage) PSU: FSP AURUM 600W(80+ Gold) CPU Cooler: Cryorig M9a  Case: NZXT Tempst 410 Elite(Mid-Tower) Mouse: Logitech G602(Manufacturer Refurbished) Keyboard: Noppoo Choc Mini(Cherry MX Blue) AUDIO:Sennheiser HD 598+ASUS Xonar DGX Monitor: LG M2280DF 21.5" 1080p(TN-75Hz)

would UD3 be enough to overclock to 4Ghz? And is there even much difference in the models or are they just underclocked versions of the previous....?

UD3 would be enough but UD5 is better as it has better quality chokes and larger heatsink on the mosfets so UD5 will produce less heat. By the way both have same 8+2 power design. But if you worry about heat then UD5 otherwise UD3 is also a good value.

I'm not planning on getting a cpu cooler just yet. Maybe in half a year or so but thanks for the suggestion, I'll bookmark it. And I have a 550W, not certified Antec power supply. Would that be enough if I got the 8320?

That PSU should be adequate.

Thanks ^^

And about getting another video card, I've never even tried to change the voltage of my card. Is it hard to do and is it really worth doing? I kinda like the 4 games I'm I'm getting for free too. The other option is the MSI 7870 - http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/AMD+Radeon/Radeon+HD+7870/MSI+Radeon+HD+7870+OC+2GB+GDDR5+Graphics+Card+%5BR7870-2GD5T%2FOC%5D+%2B+%C2%A310+CASHBACK%21+?productId=55841

And how come the XFX one isn't tahiti LE if it says it in the title?

If you're overclocking, being able to up the voltage will increase your overclocking headroom(well it technically should. All GPUs, even of the same model, can be slightly different). It will also cause your 7870 to pull more power. And no, it's not hard to do.

Is there any point in going with a 8320? Will I see any performance benifit at all because I read that 8 cores never get used in games

All 8 cores are used in a game enviroment, but the performance difference is minor.

Figured out that it doesn't, checked the official website.

About the 6350 or 8320, the 8320 is about 17 pounds more but I'm not sure even that is worth it since the performance difference won't be big. Might just get a 6350 and later use that money to get a good cooler to overclock

If you can get the 6300 CPU, that'd be cheaper and can still overclock it.
