The PS4 uses a 2.5 inch HDD not a 3.5 (What you have selected), you'd need a laptop HDD for it and I'm thinking the most for 100 bucks is a 2Tb laptop drive.

The PS4 uses a 2.5" laptop hard drive, not a desktop 3.5" one, so the biggest HDD for an earthly price will be 1 or 2TB.

You can always get an SSD for ultra fast loading times in games.

need more pace than speed tho

I've heard SSDs really scream in PS4's and improve loading times by a ton

it's for a friend and he has a budget of 100 giv or take for the hdd

I don't think so, most 2Tb 2.5 in HDDs are almost 200.

Ps4+ssd=waste of money. I don't know who told the guy above that it makes loading times scream but if you look up benchmarks for ps4 ssds the difference is usually only around 15-20% faster. Which is awful because in reality over at pc land a high end ssd over even a high end hard drive loading times are typically 200% faster.

For that price range, I think it would be a 1TB drive.

Maybe it is just my region, but 2.5in HDDs are generally quite expensive in regards to $/GB.

On the other hand, I'm not sure getting a SSD is worth it either. The PS4 runs pretty quick already on a normal HDD. Replacing it with a SSD, I don't see it running significantly faster and you lose alot of storage space.

Nope that's a full size 3.5in desktop hdd . You need a 2.5in laptop had. The one I linked is sshd which will give you some decreased loading times but not much more money then a normal hdd.

Something to consider when looking for a hard drive for the PS4 is also the physical size of the drive. You can't use a drive larger than 9.5 mm thick. So that limits you. Also since price is a factor, your best bet is a 1TB drive. Anything with a larger capacity is very likely going to be thicker. Since you're changing it out anyway, you might as well spend the extra few bucks on getting a 1TB SSHD instead of a 1TB HDD. Your load times will be a bit better, you're not spending much more, and the capacity is the same so at that point it's purely if you want the extra speed while you are at it.

Here is a nice Seagate SSHD for $100.

If you don't want to spend the extra cash. For $70 you can snag a WD Blue 5400RPM that will fit the bill as well.
