I'm running a FX 9590 with a ASUS Crosshair V Formula Z. I currently have a 4x4 16gb kit of 1866MHZ memory, Id like to move to a 2x8 16gb kit of 2133MHZ ram.

The motherboard says it works with up to 2133, but from what I've read, the 9590 supports up to 1866MHZ RAM? If I move to a 2133MHZ kit will it cause problems with the cpu (bsod etc)? Can even higher speed memory be used or is it better to just stay at 1866MHZ speed for less problems?

Any help would be awesome, its my first time as an op so...be gentle lol

you will just have to apply the memory XMP (or whatever it is on AMD side) and it will auto overclock your cpus memory controller to work with the ram. in an unlucky case, your cpu will crap itself, but that is not often.

also, why change ram? apart from rendering and similar, you wont notice a difference

Stick with your current ram.

basically.

The integrated memory controller (IMC) officially supports RAM up to 1866MHz. Anything beyond that requires overclocking of the IMC. Just like overclocking the CPU, GPU, etc...it is not 100% guaranteed it will work. It may work, it may not. That being said, 2133MHz or even up to 2400MHz seems to work quite well on these chips.

I am personally using DDR3 2133MHz with my FX-8350.
