RAM that isn't listed under the motherboard's QVL will still function properly as long as the RAM follows the memory standards of the motherboard, correct?

DDR 3 will work on a DDR3 motherboard provided the motherboard isn't capped to a specific capacity and your ram is higher than said capacity (4 gb limit trying to use 8 gb ram) and obviously it shouldn't be server ram >_<
