Hi this is my first post so please forgive me if this is in the wrong sub forum but i needed some advice as what parts to upgrade on my pc

I currently have a; amd fx 6300, on a asus 99x evo r2.0 board with 8 gb of corsair vengeance memory, a xfx 7870 double d, with a rosewill 650 watt bronze psu in a phantom 410 case and a 500 gb 7200 hdd .

ive had this pc for a while now and am looking to upgrade im getting money to spend on upgrades at about 40 bucks a week and i want to know what i should prioritize buying vs leave til the end

im wanting to get my pc ready for star citizen and other future titles but i also want to upgrade my peripherals so suggestions and basic layouts of what to upgrade first would be much appreciated.

p.s. i will have larger opportunitys to upgrade things costing more around Christmas and end of school june time

Your gonna need a much more powerful CPU, and GPU for star citizen. Also an SSD would vastly improve a lot of things

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

I would get a 120 or 240 GB ssd first.  Then upgrade the gpu.  Save the cpu and motherboard for last.
I think for now the ssd would have the most impact for you.

Like @rmac52 said, i think you should upgrade/buy an SSD. 7870 is equivalent to 270x, which is a pretty decent mid-range GPU (it equals 760 in some games). That CPU is still decent, so i suggest you leave upgrading it for last, because you'll need to change your Mobo if you want a very good CPU (ie. I5/I7).

Now, i don't know much about Star Citizen, but i'm pretty sure that i read that it needs exceptionally powerful CPU, not sure about GPU...

Hope this helps

Get a CPU + MOBO --> GPU  --> SSD --> Mechanical keyboard (imo)

I have that 7870 DD and it's still decent in the grand scheme of things. Get a new CPU/mobo soon. By the time you have money for the GPU, there will be plenty of new releases (gtx 900, r9 3xx) and prices will drop on current hardware  :)

Why not save up a decent amount then do a major upgrade? Cause remember you buy a new mobo/cpu and its a new OS license if your running windows. So you might as well go mobo/cpu/ssd at the same time and throw in a fresh OS license.

Just save and buy the best you can afford when you finished saving. I mean this world of tech is always changing so whats good today won't be the same tomorrow. If you stop and save you might save money, SSD's are dropping in price all the time...

In ten weeks you will have $600. Im sure you can get a sweet setup with that.

Like my old PC. I had to turn music up...

It might be your case or the fans. Look into quieter fans. Mines quiet and all i got in there is the CPU/GPU/PSU fans. Not that loud.
