Best 55 inch 1080p lcd for use with my pc

Zero_Cool

Would like some suggestions for a new tv as I am replacing my old 42" sharp from 7 years ago. What would be best bang for buck?

I personally use a Panasonic Plasma 50". The blacks are actually black (no stupid back lighting) and the contrast is excellent. The Internals do "buzz" a bit when the screen is mostly white, but small noises don't bother me too much.

As stated above, 1080p at that size shows pixels if you are close to the panel. I sit 3-3.5 meters away so it is not an issue.

Curious, what's wrong with your current panel?

I'm using a Panasonic Plasma too, a 46". I agree the blacks on these panels are unmatchable.

I know, that was a sad day for me. I got this bad boy for $600 new in 2011, a purchase that still feels worthwhile even this many years later.

I would go with a cheap LG. They usually give you the best bang for the buck. At least in Germany.

Intel 4790k | Asus Z97 Maximus VII Impact | Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16 GB 1866Mhz | Asus Strix GTX 980 | CoolerMaster G550 |Samsung Evo 250GB | Synology DS215j (NAS) | Logitech G502 |

I dont really think that's fair to say. Sure, from a pure PPI perspective, it is far worse than a monitor or a phone, but it is also much farther away from your face. And I have seen some pretty damn good looking 1080p large TVs.

And while he is using it with his PC, he is likely going to be farther away from it due to the size.

Honestly, I would suggest something from LG or Samsung. They make high quality stuff, some of the best.

there is a reason why there is no PC specific monitors that are 55", because in monitors the pixels per inch are much greater than they are on TV because you generally look closer, so a 55" TV for a pc monitor will be awful at 1080p up close, either get higher resolution(1440p) or smaller screen like a 32" but 1440p doesn't really exist on TV's because they don't need it.

Unless you're too close to the TV, the JVC EM65FTR (65 inch model) seems appealing. It sells for 899.99 USD at Costco. PQ measurements are actually pretty good (same as the major brands). JVC TVs are now AmTran, which would be the same as Vizio TVs.

Most of them are indeed good, like the Pioneer Kuros. The last installment of Samsung Plasmas aren't bad either.

I do notice their flicker though, depending on what's being displayed.
