Hey guys,

Was just thinking, If i wanted to use LED fans to help light it up, how easy is is to mod the fans so i could control the LEDs

with a switch? I assume that the LEDs are just wired into the 3/4 pin connector for the fan. So could i just cut the wires

connecting the LEDs into the fan cable and then custom make a seperate cable for the LEDs?

Thanks

Hmm, I'd have to take a look at one of my fans I've got laying around to be sure, but I think they are on a somewhat separate wire attached to the little circuit board on the fan.

The leds are wired to the PCB in the fan hub, but they can be connected directly to molex if you want. The wires they are are extremely thin, and usually go through the fan housing, so you might have a hard time rewiring them, but it is possible.

OK, Thanks. I might try this then on some of the fans that came with my case, because im not too bothered about them and I like to think im relatively competent when it comes to electronics/soldering
