Looking for an upgrade

iamdarkyoshi

Hello everyone! My current setup is running 6400x1024 on a single HD 7970 Directcu ii. All of my games (which is little to none) run very well. However, this massive resolution is using 5 assorted monitors, all 19 inch 1280x1024, one of them is even vga and a couple are 10 years old! These monitors have THE WORST response times, the have awful ghosting. What should I upgrade to? I love surround gaming, and this card somehow handles it.

Wow, that sounds like a really Frankenstein setup..

One 1440p monitor should be great, and should run fine on your 7970, but, if you really want Surround Gaming, three 1080p monitors is the way to go, but even your 7970 might not be really enough for that resolution with the latest games at great settings.

So, I would recommend a 1440p monitor, for that crisp Quad HD resolution, or, if you're mostly playing games on your PC, a 1080p monitor with a high refresh rate could be really good (a couple of great examples: BenQ XL2420TE, Asus VG248QE)!

LG's 21:9 monitor that Linus reviewed or something similar...

I prefer 1440p over 21:9. Yes 21:9 is closer to sourround, but the pixel density is significantly lower. Either way, it's really up to you. Your single 7970 won't be able to run games at high quality on a 3x1080p setup

Can't agree more, I have that monitor and it's really amazing.

I have considered a 21:9, I dont care too much for pixel density as I am used to 1280x1024 on a 19in display. If I get a 21:9, i would probably get some other monitors for the sides with the same pixel density because multi monitor multitasking is awesome. Also this is my setup:

It is definately a budget gaming pc, I probably have put about 700 bucks in the thing over 3 years.
