Ok, I have to come to the best forum in the world for this answer  :) . How can i enable beautiful eye candy in Borderlands 2 and Planetside 2 with my AMD card?

I've seen lots of different things and would be fine if I'm able to run it off of my 2500K.

The one guy in the BL2 with PhysX on AMD video on YouTube says to go into the ini file and I saw other guys talking more specifically about the specific game file ini to set the PhysX value to 1 to turn it on but these guys all had Nvidia cards and drivers (planetside 2 forum). So would I be able to do this? and if so how?

I also saw this which looks legit but you never know unless you know someone that tried it.

And what about Havok? I know I can get their physics engine or program but will it work with only certain games or what?

Any help? Looking for a straight answer or guide if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Do what they did. Set it to the appropriate level in the same exact file. It should work automatically. You should be able to run it off your 2500K, but your FPS might lower a bit.

You can enable Physx in Borderland 2 but all the physics calculation will be done by your processor instead. Performance hit is much worse than GPU Physx. ;)

Not sure about Planetside 2 though, lastime i can't enable Physx.

I can't even enable PhysX in Borderlands 2 with just my CPU. Some people can't, but I can't.

Maybe you don't have Phsyx driver installed in your system.

Apparently it's not "installed" according to CCleaner, but what's weird is I can play Batman AC with PhysX on my CPU.

Neither worked for me.

PlanetSide 2 you have to go into UserOptions in the game folder and add:

ForceGpuPhysics=1
GpuPhysics=1

to the bottom line of the Rendering section. This did not work for me, no effects and physx option greyed out..

Borderlands its

"C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\Config\WillowEngine.ini

Search for:

PhysXLevel

Change

PhysXLevel=0 (low)

to either:

PhysXLevel=1 (mid)

or

PhysXLevel=2 (high)"

This did not work either and the option is once again still greyed out under video settings..

Anybody know any other options besides buying an Nvidia card? I would have to buy something with 196+ CUDA cores, and I don't think that would be worthwhile for the 2 games I play (PS2 way more, so technically 1).

Yeah. You'll need the PhysX driver. Even so, I have a 660 Ti and I can use PhysX on my CPU in Batman AC without the driver "officially" installed. But not BL2.

What about picking up a dedicated Ageia card? Would that slow my 7970? Anybody have the cheapest solution with a 7970?

They're not compatible anymore. NVIDIA dropped support for them years ago.

You can hack them to work though but they're awfully slow. They were only really any good for Mirror's Edge, any title after that is simply too demanding.

I've used GenL's hybrid Physx every time I've had an AMD gpu and it's painfully easy to set up. For titles these days I would suggest at least a GTX 260 / GTX 460 for the Physx calculations.

In Borderlands 2 i went into Options, put Physx up on high, and enjoyed on my Asus 7970 and 3770k

Did the same in Metro: Last Light. I don't see any difference in frame rates.

I can enable PhysX in the in-game settings as well with my AMD card without any work-around.

I have no experience with Planet Side 2, but editing the ini file in Borderlands 2 will work.
