Ok so everything was working fine with the system, i had a 780ti classified in there and then i added the 780ti OC ACX. The system had run sli set ups before and everything was fine. Once i turned on the system i had no audio. Not on the front panel or the back panel. So in an attempt to troubleshoot i unplugged the second graphics card that i had just added (essentially to get the same set up as i had when everything worked). This didn't fix the problem, i tried changing the graphics cards around in different pci-e express slots, nothing changed which led me to the conclusion that it wasn't driver based (at least on the GPU end). From then i continued to troubleshoot within windows (the playback and recording tabs) changing around different defaults and just testing things out but nothing worked. I have to add that during the whole of the troubleshooting process i have a song playing on media player and the Realtek High Definition Audio device within the system has the green bars go up and down beside it in the playback tab (as is usual when everything works). The drivers are up to dave for the realtek stuff also. I have to add that when  the headphones are connected in the back panel there is a very slight sound that i can barely make out but almost non-existant though when i plug the headphones into the front panel there is a strong waterfall/wind/ocean sound that is consistent andd unaffected by changing the volume in windows. This is a pretty weird problem hence why i added so much detail. Hopefully you guys can help me :) If you need anymore details or info i'll be glad to add it. Thansk for your time

Make sure you have the proper device set in playback devices, disable others.

Then I would start by updating all drivers, with a uninstall of the realtek driver from the control panel followed by something like driversweeper to remove all realtek left overs. Then a reinstall of it.

It could be something wrong with the onboard audio hardware wise. Picking up something like a Asus xonar DG/DGX for about 20-30$ could help with process of elimination.

PC specs could also help pinpoint a flaw.

Intel I5 4670k @4.6GHz // Corsair H100I // Asrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer // Gigabyte R9 280x rev 2 // Sound Blaster Z

Evga 600b // 8G G.Skill Ripjaws X @2133Mhz // Corsair Spec-01 // Muskin Chronos 120G // Seagate Barracuda 1TB

You want me to drop the full pc spes? How would that help?

I think your default audio automatically switched to the graphic card HDMI output after you installed the driver. Change back to onboard sound in Window sound option.

Just go to playback devices and disable nvidia hdmi output. That should solve the problem

It didn't :/

try disabling everything except the one you want to work and make sure it is set to the default playback device. If that does not work, try disabling your audio driver, restart your system and re-enable the driver
