How many rads?

TheSven

Hi. I'm thinking about of water cooling my rig at some point. The specs would be an i7 4770 (non oc) and an R9 290 (lightly oced). What would you say the minimum number of 120mm mounts would be? Would a 60mm thick 360mm rad do or should I step up to a 480? Thanks.

no need for the 4770, 240/280 for the GPU, you could do 360 to OC further.

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

It'll do.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

360 60mm will be fine.

Just be sure to get some decent fans.

since no real CPU overclocking is in the cards, you can easily use a 240/280x 60

radiator for that single GPU or the 7990. a thinner radiator might be able to keep

up, but you might find the fans will notch up in RPM if using for prolong periods of

usage. this will be a best use for limited cases. now for future plans, if you do decide

to retrieve an overclocking CPU, then a 360x 60 would be a minimum.
