TN is the most common panel. They are cheap and fast, but they suffer from poor viewing angles and not-so-good colour accuracy. They are good for gaming generally, but for editing and colour accurate work they are poor. This being said, the quality does vary a lot, you may be able to get a pretty good one.

IPS is significantly more expensive and has a slower response time. This is sometimes noticable in games, but they are a popular choice for most gamers. They have better colour accuracy and have better viewing angles than TN.

There are other types of panel such as VA, PLS and proprietary ones like UV2A, but you don't need to worry about these unless you specifically want a monitor with one of these. PLS has excellent colour accuracy and angles, but has poor response time, don't get one for gaming.

What is the difference between IPS panels and everything else?

Is an IPS panel worth it for gaming?

Thanks :3

IPS = better color reproduction, slower response times

TN = faster response times (good for fps and racers especially, not as good color reproduction

If you've never used a TN panel at 144Hz you won't miss it.
