Artificing happens on any GPU that is stressed too much on the core or memory clock speeds and can be solved by lowering the clock speeds (And this can differ from chip to chip). The R9 270 is not known for artificing a lot though so you can be safe on that. Also the HIS one is decent but I highly recommend going Sapphire Dual-X or MSI Twin Frozr instead.

i have seen on forums about people having problems with the asus and msi ones alot.. they give artifacts in every game.. i think they are factory oced too much.. but his version is not so oced and it keeps temps equal to asus one.. i dont noe about the sapphire one though.. if anyone has the problem please post here.. on the factory oced cards

My brother has an MSI R9 270 and it never gives artifacts. Sapphire is a dependable brand though and you can always lower the factory OC.

I got a Sapphire R9 270 OC dual X and my friend has a Sapphire R9 270X OC dual X, they are the same cards with different clocks and neither one of us had any problems with artifacts, random frame drops etc. I would recommend going Sapphire. It also runs very cool n quiet. When in BF4 I get 100% usage and the card never goes over 60c and my CPU fan makes more noise than it does so it's really quiet. :D

Sapphire is pretty much the EVGA of AMD GPUs. You shouldn't have any problems with them.

It's pretty much like this:

EVGA is to NVIDIA as Sapphire is to AMD.

If that makes any sense. :)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

  • 1 month later...

I did with my first R9 270. I think there was some bad batches. My HIS model is no longer available on newegg. I think it's either the Elpida models or AMD's drivers. Or both! But AMD's latest drivers have got rid of most artifacts. But I did see one slight artifact in the latest 14.91 beta, In fallout NV, I was seeing some dark light over the faces of Super Mutants when I was shooting in vats. I had to turn off the AMD Optimized and surface format optimazation and it fixed the problem. But try a newer driver too. The older 14.4 was the best for awhile but it still had some problems. AMD is getting better with drivers but they still have a way to go. But my new Hynix 270 mostly runs perfect. And when I put my 650 Ti back in just for sxxxs and giggles. I have to put my 270 back in, Nvidia's colors and textures now look poor to me compared to AMD's. But I am afraid that buying a AMD card is a like a gamble. But just check your card out first. Make sure you have nothing in the fans and heatsink ,And make sure your fans are running properly. And if they are running fine and you have the latest driver, and you are still getting artifacts, then you have a faulty memory controller in your GPU, Or your V-Ram chips got hot and went bad. That is common since they no longer put heatsinks on the V-Ram chips, Which is the dumbest thing any card maker can do! It is almost like they do it now on purpose knowing it won't last so you have to spend more money. But never OC V-Ram with no heatsinks, Not even a little.
