Hi! This is my first time starting a topic about this subject. I am looking to build my own personal gaming rig and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the parts that I have chosen are perfect for the job:

  • ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboard
  • Gigabyte GTX 770 GDDR5-4GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC WINDFORCE 3X Graphics Card
  • Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz)
  • Microsoft Windows 8.1 - Full Version
  • Western Digital 1 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive, Black
  • TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter,2.4GHz 450Mbps/5Ghz 450Mbps, Include Low-profile Bracket
  • Corsair RM Series 1000 Watt ATX/EPS 80PLUS Gold-Certified Power Supply
  • NZXT Technologies H440 Mid Tower Chassis Cases
  • Corsair Hydro Series H105 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
  • Corsair 32 GB USB 3.0 Flash Voyager Flash Drive (FOR INSTALLING OS VIA USB)
  • Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive

I have already taken care of peripherals but I'm still debating on monitors.

Anyway, please tell me if the list of parts I have chosen is good or if I need something more or less.  THANKS!

What @Bubblewhale said. I got the 4770K and I regret it.

Even though the GTX 780/R9 290 is overkill for 1080p, I'd rather get an i5 and spend the extra money on that. A 770 is great for 1080p though.

What's your budget? You can get a 1440p monitor and a R9 290 if you get the i5.

Well, I'm going for something that can run most games over 40 FPS? I'm not to be doing super duper extreme stuff that will cause my GPU to slow down. I will definitely be doing things like DayZ, Minecraft, and maybe somethings like Battlefield. Although I dowant room to grow if I wanted to become a full time PC gamer. The R9 290 is a good choice and that could be what I use. 1440p gaming is still kind of a "twinkle in my eye."

An i5 is the exact same thing as an i7 just without hyperthreading, which means that it's just as powerful if you not rendering videos.

I find that rendering pictures are still pretty quick and game streaming with an i5 isn't a big difference on an i7.

It's just not worth the extra $100.

A GTX 770 can run BF4 at 1080p, Ultra, 2x MSAA + FXAA at 60-80 FPS,

Yes that sounds perfect! But one question, which would be better? The GTX 770 or the R9 290. Either way, it puts me in a comfortable price range and with room to actually get a monitor. Thanks for the i5 suggestion @Bubblewhale and you!

R9 290 will be better than the 770, just make sure to get a non reference model because they run cooler than reference models.

@CowsGoRoar Well there is one more thing. Not hardware wise but aesthetic wise. Since this is a black and red design (my favorite color combination), it needs a super awesome codename!  Something that goes along with the performance and the color scheme! Its a small thing but I'm really excited about this an I think it would make it super cool if it had a codename. :)
