Hello, I had a few questions about an old hard drive I had in a prebuilt machine. I used to have an old HP desktop before I build my main rig, but the old computer has a terabyte of 7200 rpm goodness that I want to put into my system for more space. I was wondering if this was a good idea and if I could wipe it and have a completely clean HDD. I have looked in the PC and it will fit all of the physical requirements. I was just wondering if this was a good idea.

P.S. some help on wiping the drive of old data, and if I get the green light help would be appreciated.

Hey man, welcome to the forum! You could wipe the drive and use it, but I would just be wary of what I put on it, such as only steam games and replaceable programs.

Thanks, I was just making sure! Good stuff. Quick question; how does said hard drive get wiped? It has an OS and everything from my old PC, which I don't need. I get the disk management park and formatting. Just the wiping of the drive is a mystery to me...

I think that wiping is the same as formatting, when you format the hard drive it frees up all of the data on it to be used for whatever you want
