is SLI problems a common thing?

ok so i'm looking to buy another zotac GTX 780ti, but my friend has had a lot of problems with his 570 sli config (constant crashes and wierd colours on screen) so is problems with sli something that happens to a lot of people or have the things i've been hearing wrong?

I get weird colours if the SLI bridge isn't on properly. Other than that, I've not experienced anything weird.

Shouldn't be constantly crashing but it is a little more difficult when trying to set it up.

I haven't heard of a lot of problems, although I haven't used it myself.

 

You can sometimes have some difficulties setting it up, like @CowsGoRoar said, but other than that there shouldn't really be any problems!

SLI And Crossfile is a bit finicky and doesn't always seem to work properly you should be fine. If anything goes wrong try swapping the cards and making sure your drivers are up to date. Its honestly really strange the way SLI works but you should be fine.

Not used but when I'm looking to upgrade in a few months, I won't have any hesitations of using sli.

Sli problems arnt nearly as bad or frequent as they are made out to be, but they do exist

afaik, SLI problems exist because game devs do a crap job of supporting sli/crossfire or just outright don't support it. 

I don't think it's nearly as much of a problem as it was before, considering how many high end pc's use sli 780ti's (meaning that the performance gains far outweighs the problems that sli introduces)

had sli, got crossfire now..........had very few problems with either of them.

Ran SLI for several years. Had GTX 260's  then GTX 470's  never had any trouble with it.   I now run 7970's Crossfire...still no real issues to speak of ....Love the performance gain i get over a single card.

SLI and crossfire can make many driver issues as the game has to be specifically optimized for that setup, which is not very common. I am sorry to say but any time you run multiple GPUs there is more room for problems.
