what is wrong with the V Formula? other than not supporting 4 separate GPUs,

pretty much does what the V Extreme does. no better overclocking between the

two. decent replacement now can be hard to secure a "best" price new, since the

Z87/97 most of the vendors should have already sold out.

giggy Z77 UD4/5

MSI Z77 GD65/MPower

come to mind. most of the scalpers buy out the NOS inventory and scalp pricing

due to the age and "necessity" or pay as much as you can for old stuff. finding a

confident good used board would be tough if you don't know the person selling it.

i was looking for a replacement for my tossed MIVE-Z (already had mobo block)

and used was $250 for warrantable board, till i found a decent bare used one for

$175 (still too high)

Nothing wrong with the V formula it thought i would try the next level up.

Or i could just go with a newer Z97 board and buy new cpu and sell the old board and cpu.

the level up offers no gain or value to the performance other than 3/4 GPU

usage. overclocks and performance is the same between the two. honestly,

you have the best without spending money for no-gain.

almost a lateral move, recoup on used items to pay more for Z87/97 for 10-15%

betterment and possible more headaches.

been there done that and got the t-shirt for it all. unless you are just itching you

upgrade, then Z97 and devils canyon. you have 2-3 years left on the Z77 platform

before it'd be considered " seriously bottlenecking".

you need a SSD for OS for a performance boost in operations.
