Gpu+iGpu Fps Drop

Go to solution Solved by YoloSwag,

If I plug the second monitor to my GPU I get basic frame drops because my GPU has only 1gb vram and its not that strong. About the different resolution of the two monitors, I dont know if thats the problem, it shouldnt be a problem because they are hooked up to complete different graphics cards

I really don't understand how that works for you but if it does then it's fine I guess.

Your 8GB doesn't limit your iGPU because I'm only using 4GB and I'm gaming with it just fine using my Intel Graphics.

I'm checking around the net, I'm amazed this sort of configuration even works. I'm thinking of driver conflicts but I can't test that.

What does the other monitor even do while you're playing at 1080p?

Can't you get another 1080p monitor? These things are relatively cheap nowadays compared to 5 years ago, you could get a second hand one. Since I don't think you can 'improve' performance with your current configuration.

Either remove that old monitor or just get another 1080p monitor and plug it into the GPU.

I have my primary 1080p monitor hooked up with my Radeon HD 7770 and a second old 17inch lcd monitor with my Intel HD Graphics from Intel Pentium G860. Before setting up my second monitor I was playing some games with 60+ FPS and now I get around 30-50 FPS. The native resolution of my second monitor is 1280x1024 at 75hz but I run it at 1024x768 at 60hz in hope not to stretch my CPU. Can you give me some help? I have all the latest drivers from both AMD and Intel. Thank you in advance.

Can you elaborat more about your problem.

Are you saying that you've got 1 computer, a 1080p monitor hooked up to a Radeon 7770 and you've plugged your 2nd monitor to your Intel HD Graphics?

To be honest, I haven't tried doing that before. I plug my TV and monitor on my GPU and they've been doing fine, no frame drops or whatsoever.

The thing is they're both 1080p and I've set both of them to 60Hz.

Based on what you've said, I'm thinking that your system might have trouble processing output for your monitors because they are different not just in refresh rates but also in resolutions. But that's just a guess.

What if you plug your 2nd monitor to your GPU, what happens?

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."
