So I've had a problem with this board lately and after research and troubleshooting I've determined the only thing left to do is a BIOS flashback.

My question is, do I flash to the latest BIOS or a previous version? I don't know what's the current version on this board, don't think I can find out.

The board in question is the Asus Maximus V gene.

I think that flashing it to the latest one should be okay, I've seen people use that feature on P9X79E-WSs to get support the 4960X.

That's correct but different from my situation.

Well, my point is that you don't have to flash to the previous version, you can use the latest one too. It's just a plain old BIOS flash and it rewrites the entire BIOS code.
