Will my CPU be Bottleneck?

Hello.

I have a question. I want to upgrade my GPU MSI Radeon HD 7790 1GB OC to AMD R9 280x but i think my CPU will then be a bottleneck. My CPU is AMD Phenom II X6 1055T. Should i buy new gpu and overclock my cpu or should i first buy a new CPU AMD FX 8350 (i don't have money for both at the moment).

Buy the GPU and overclock your current CPU. When you get more money, switch to Intel because AMD is kind of dead right now in terms of gaming performance. Going from a Phenom to an FX8 won't be as big of an upgrade as you think, and your motherboard might not be able to handle its full potential. Don't buy a 280X, get a regular 280 and overclock it yourself. Saves some money

Also, wait until the new cards from Nvidia are released before buying any GPU.

Don´t buy the 280X, it's known for having too many issues, my 280X suffered from those problems as well, had to RMA it. Go with the 280 or the new 285 (smaller bus, 256 bit and less vram, 2gb), but it has some extra features:

The 280x is fine just dont buy an asus card. I would get a 280 over a 285 as it performs better and has more VRAM. The extra features on the 285 for me doesn't appeal so much.

No ti'll be fine, I havent run into any bottlenecks with my phenom x4's with a 7850, the only games that will bottleneck are single threaded mmo's but EVERY cpuwill be a bottleneck in those games.
every other modern game will be fine, overclock it 3500 and that will be beast!!! wouldnt mind having one tbh, if you wanna send some task manager cpu usage shots of bf3 (or 4) at some point it'd be much appreciated...

Not only mmo's, Arma, Dayz etc. Just any game that's a multiplayer game with lots of playercount.

60% gpu load somewhere at 3:45 when nothing was basically happening and davamand peak isn't as intensive as Strike at karkand. So yes bottlenecking. Your screenshots dont mean anything, just cherrypick a moment where you have the gpu at its max load. Besides your loads were dropping down to 80% = cpu bottleneck.

Don't tell me you aren't bottlenecked in Arma 3

Seriously learn the difference between activity over an hour and activity at the same time. Threads switch rapidly between cores alot and taskmanager logs this every x time. You're not proving that the game is well threaded.

why would i cherry pick to skew my own results i was obviously benching with fraps results as you see in the task bar, if i wanted to spew BS i could of just ran windowed furmark and gone "derp, see 100% gpu load until i tabbed out"?????

Fraps is only showing your fps in your screenshots, what else does it prove? You call me a troll when you're claiming Intel cpu's are only useful for mmo's when most of your AMD buddies who were believing more cores improve single threaded performance upgraded to Intel already. Quite ironic uh. Claiming that you aren't cpu bound in arma when the whole community whines about it is funny.

As someone who actually has a phenom ii x4 965 and an asus 280x dc2 (I guess I am special in that mine runs perfectly fine) there is a slight bottleneck.

For example, bf4 with everything maxed (hbao and everything) I run at max around 62 FPS when I turn off vsync on 64 man servers with mantle. CPU runs at 100% while the gpu sits around 78%. The Phenom II x6 should be alot closer to the 100% gpu mark. There will be a very slight bottleneck, but i would have to say that the 280x is the max card for that cpu..

i would get 2 7970s they are going for cheap just corsfire them they are = to gtx 770 sli

that cpu would severely bottleneck 7970s in crossfire

You can get another hd 7790 and run both of them in crossfire.
It will perform around a hd 7950.
And the CPU would be just fine(i mean no bottleneck)
for 1080p it's just fine and would be a lot cheaper.
