Hey everyone, just wondering what some people's opinions are on how much life a 3570k has left in it for playing games? I never run with more than 1 high end GPU.

At least a few years. After that, it really depends on how game optimization will work (e.g. require more multitasking power? Or go along the path of faster, fewer cores? Maybe a combo of both?).

Previously Trogdor8freebird

5800x | Asus x570 Pro Wifi (barely enough for 64GB apparently given it's 2133 and still crashes sometimes) | 64GB DDR4 | 3070 Ti 8GB | Love that whole weeb shit

Yeah, it's just the other offerering currently on the mainstream platform are only fractionally better and not worth the investment of a new mobo and cpu, I think I am going to wait until Skylake is realeased, I think Broadwell is just going to be a more energy effecient Haswell sadly so nothing exciting coming out for a while yet.

LoL, den overclock with crazy voltage and hope it fails ASAP :D:D:D

3570k can handle even two high end gpus so it will run for years to come. Haswell really isnt an upgrade, its petty performance increase. Maybe wait until skylake or after AMD pushes out new processors in 2016.

As long as it works fine, there's no need to upgrade..

4670K/4690K is pretty much a 3570K which is supposed to consume less power..

3570K is still, a beast for gaming :D

In my opinion the 3570k would be fine for at least a few more years.  Unless the cpu requirements for games suddenly goes through the roof I think your fine.

I'd personally, just upgrade your graphics card if you want to upgrade, or upgrade your cooler or something.  I personally think the 3570k is more than enough these days.

There is no need to upgrade that CPU right now if you all care about is gaming. It's only one generation behind it's still pretty fast so you won't really benefit much by upgrading... unless you need more cores.... in that case to X99 would be very beneficial for multithreaded tasks, but for gaming it's not really worth it imo.

Cool thanks everyone kind of my thoughts too though just wanted to get another opinion on the matter.

was gonna say, you'd probably get like 1-2 fps more with the newer CPU's but yeah most people probably know intel better than me and have already let you know. ;P

by the way you are the first person i have seen with 2 BOTW badges TT_TT

A few years??????people still game on pentiums. A 3570k will out live your GPU for sure gaming wise that is not that the GPU will die or anything.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Keep it, it is a rock solid CPU. I still have that in one of my HTPC's and I see no reason what so ever to change it :) . They OC usually really good and even under air you are able to achieve good results.

Hey thanks mate, your the first person to have ever noticed and mentioned something about that :) Yes I am quite pleased that both my builds managed to get recognized for that award seeing as I have only ever built 2 pc's in my life. I think I am the only one on the forum with that status as well which does my head in lol quite happy :)
