So I'm thinking of maybe doing a hackintosh/windows dual boot pc soon, the thing is, I've gone all AMD with my current build, so I realise I'm gonna have to replace the CPU+Motherboard etc. I also have a 270X GPU, which I understand to be incompatible with OSX. Now I was thinking of keeping the 270X, but having the HDMI from the 270X connected to my monitor (for use in windows) then having the D-Sub from the motherboard also connected to my monitor (for use in mac OSX), then I should be able to toggle inputs on my monitor to choose either the 270X or the onboard graphics, depending on which OS I'm using.

Will this work? Will the 270X prevent OSX from working just by being plugged in? I'm I wrong about the 270X being incompatible?

Any help will be much appreciated!

This won't work. Mac doesn't work with having monitors plugged into GPU and mobo like Windows does.

270X will work. I built a Hackintosh last month running Mavericks on a 7870, which is pretty much the same card, and it works perfectly.

Right guys, sounds good then. So I can just leave the monitor plugged into the 270X and everything will work?

Cool, so did you have to do anything special to get it to work like installing drivers or did it just work automatically?

Best place you would find your answer is at :  http://www.tonymacx86.com/

I ran n Hackintosh for some time and loved it but you will always have that nagging feeling that it isnt a Mac. I bought myself a rMBP instead and sold my computer. Best purchase I've made to date.

Dream on little dreamer.

Plug both monitors into the 270X.

I used Niresh's 10.9 Hackintosh distro, and it just worked automatically. 7870 drivers are included in Mavericks afaik
