Hy there guys,

Just finished my new build today and everything went ok. It powered on, i went into BIOS, changed settings for SATA into AHCI(it was in RAID), activated the XMP profile for my memory so that i could have 1866MHz. All went well, installed windows7@x64 on it. After the installation was done it went into desktop and i wanted to install the drivers from my mb driver dvd. Then it powered off and now it doesnt power on anymore.

It just powers all the fans, all the lights and everything and then powers off. All in about 2 seconds.

CPU: Intel i7-4790k

MB: Z97-Deluxe

RAM: 2x8GB DDR3 1866MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum

PSU: Corsair AX860i

Storage: Samsung 840PRO 256GB SSD

I've seen that I have 0603 BIOS version, I've wanted to updated it to the latest that is 1304 but didnt get the chance because pc just powered off.

Do you think it has to do with this? Since the CPU was released after the MB was released? Also I've seen that BIOS update 1008 has:

1.Enhance compatibility for new Anniversary Edition and Devil's Canyon CPU.
2.Optimize overclocking function and performance for new Anniversary Edition and Devil's Canyon CPU.
3.Revise function description of SVID support item.

Any help would be appreciated

edit: Did a little bit of reading and it seems that 4790k is supported from BIOS version 1008 and above.

Damn.. I hope this would be my problem.

edit2: Just used my phone connected to the USB flashback to update the BIOS to 1304

I renamed the file using asus's bios utility. Then plugged in the phone, pushed the bios flashback button from the mb for 3sec, the led started to blink. i've waited until it stopped and still it does the same. all powers up and then powers down. :(

Sounds like some error in wiring the power. I remember a buddy had a similar problem cause he put the old floppy power cord at the end of the molex cord from the psu onto one of the fan headers on the motherboard. he figured it fits, it might as-well plug it in lol. The system turn itself off to prevent any permanent damage. Might be anything causing a short or something.

But sounds like you know what your doing,, so i have no clue. good luck.

Yes i have the speaker. But it doesn't have time to do any beeps. When i push the start button, it shutsdown very fast.

It worked well until i've installed the OS. Cpu was in 26 celsius then so I don't think it is a heating problem.

When OS was installed and i was ready to install my drivers it just powered off.

I'm not really convinced that it has to do with the bios update....

In a couple of hrs I'm going to a friend to test the entire rig. If the psu is faulty i won't buy corsair ever again. :)

Every brand has faulty stuff. That's why there are RMA policies.

But whatever.

RMA will take like 2-3 weeks. What do I do until then ? Pay money to look at the walls?

BUT good news. The PSU is OK, the RAM is OK, SSD is OK.

The MB is OK when the 4790k isn't connected. If the CPU is connected it won't start. We tried to flashback update the BIOS but i guess it didn't work since the same problem is there.

Again, tommorow, we'll get some other 1150 cpu to see if it works and get into BIOS to see what version we have there.

Are you sure its the PSU? Have you tried shorting the green wire and see if it starts up?

I've looked at the socket and everything looks ok. I dont't know how could it have bent pins because after installing it run like 5 mins during the OS install. If the pins were bent i think it shouldn't work at all from the start. I've tried with any other CPU and it does the same thing. It starts, then powers off.

When CPU is not connected it works.

I believe that the bios got so screwed that it can't send commands to the motherboard and it rejects any cpu.

Bios flashback update also doesn't work. Today i've sent back the board and see if the guys over there can fix it, if not i believe they will replace it with a new one, right? Because i have a 3 years warranty.
