So I'm planning on putting together a new budget computer this Fall for a friend so i put together a PCPartPicker list but i don't know how well i did. It will be only for gaming and decently light gaming at that. It doesn't need to run everything at ultra so nothing overboard. Im just looking to play minecraft packs and play maybe a little FPS with maybe some League or something like that every once in a while.

Here is the list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Qw7WmG

Let me know what you think and what you think i could do better to either save money, boost performance for few buck or both!

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Get a Z97 board, an R9 280, and an Crucial Mx100/Samsung 840 Evo ssd.

And R9 270, or even a GTX750Ti can run either of those games just fine, but its worth the extra money to get a real gpu should you choose to play different games.

You 'shouldn't' overclock on non z boards as they weren't designed to handle over clocks.

you can't go over i5 stock voltage. So it can still give you a good overclock

B85 is the only really non-Z boards that should be considered for overclocking. With any OC you will at least want VRM heatsinks

there is h81 and everything there too. H97 is also another opiton for overclock. still has features for even i7's.

H81 boards still require a bios update for the g3258...so without a pre-devils canyon cpu or a board that has a usb flashable bios its going to be difficult to use an h81 board.

It would probably work as a G3220/3420 till a bio update. but good point.
