Pfsense recommend cpu

Go to solution Solved by L.E.D,

will it benefit from higher clock speeds on a dual core

Maybe a little, maybe not noticable either, I ran a pfSense system on a Pentium 4 without hick ups so pretty much any i3 is going to serve you well.

im new to pfsense could someone recommended a cpu for my build.

It must be on the 1150 platform.

it'll be used for:

- DHCP Server

- DNS Server

- Firewall

- Web Cache

- OpenVPN Server

- Packet Prioritization

it'll have

- 16 GB RAM (most for web cache)

- 400Watt SFX power supply

- Silverstone SST-ML05B Case

- Asus H81I-Plus motherboard

- SSD for storage

- Intel NIC in PCI slot

im in a student house so a minimum of 10 desktops/laptops/devices will be using it for the internet at any given time.

Honestly pfSense doesn't take a whole lot to run. So this would probably be fine considering the requirements on the website.

General Requirements:
  • CPU - Pentium II processor
  • RAM - 256 MB
