How to make my fans quiet

zolo30

I have two 120mm corsair fans that are attached to my H60 Radiator and they are fairly loud. They are both connected via a splitter to the only fan connector on the MOBO. I went in the BIOS and turned them down but I don't think it worked. Any ideas?

An in-line voltage reducer.

Rubber mounts or rubber noise dampeners around the mounts.

Are they pwm fans (4 pin)?

If they're not pwm you'll need to lower the voltage.

The fans that come with Corsair water coolers are known for being noisy. New fans is your best bet.

(I dont think corsair coolers come with pwm fans, so I'll assume you have 3 pin fans) So if you have any molex to 3 pin fan adapters , take the pins out from the molex connector and have the fan wires connect to the 12v and 5v molex wires instead of the 12v and 0v ones. That will make your fans run at 7 volts making them much quieter.

I replaced my radiator fans with Noctua NF-F12s, but in my opinion at 7v the stock h100 fans are at an acceptable noise level

Yes both of them are 4 pin I just checked.

Yeah on my other build I replaced them with Noctua NF-F12's and use the PWN adapters. That is why I had an extra fan to do push pull on my girls build.

They are 4 pin but I need a PWN adapter right?

Oh so I have only one system fan header on the MOBO, I have those two corsair fans plugged into currently because the CPU header is used for the block, and I have a 230mm fan in the front that is actually not plugged in right now because I only had a Y cable. That 230mm is a 3 pin fan so what would be my best bet to have that connected along with the corsair fans and have it quiet as well. Btw I have beautiful temps I am never over 40c on CPU and rest of system. The case is just so clean and has good airflow....so maybe never plug in the front fan?

Make as many of the adapters as you need like they were shown in the video, then if you need to plug a 4 pin fan into the 3 pin adapter, just break the side off that blocks you putting in the 4 pin fan into the 3 pin adapter and plug it in (I have done this myself and the fans are fine and quiet). Or you could buy a cheap fan controller and plug all your fans into that.

Is there away that i don't have to make an adapater something i cna buy?

If you search for "molex to 7v fan adapter" you should be able to find some

Isn't  there a plug in spot on the waterblock/pump for the H60? That would allow PWM control and so it would only be as loud as needed.

That said, you should be able to set the mobo header to respond to CPU temp.

Could also buy quieter fans.

There might be but I do not remember seeing one like there was on my h100i on my other build. And yeah I am starting to consider buying a couple noctua NF-F12's. The only reason I did not was because I had these Corsair fans laying around from my h100i so I figured I would save some cash. But now I am starting to think I need new ones. I can only get the fans down to 1400 RPM with the MOBO controller and I kinda want it lower than that.
