Hi,

So I brought my younger brothers 2yr old eMachine home with me after he complained about it not turning on.

I opened the side panel hit the power button and noticed no video and no power led light turned on, but the fans did run. Then I ran it bare bones with just ram, psu and mobo after reseating the ram and got the same results.

So my questions are:

Is the psu faulty?

Does the fact that the fans spin rule out a faulty mobo?

Is it safe to swap the psu with my Corsair 650w for testing?

Emachine specs

Acer EL1360G

AMD E-300

Unifosa HDDR3 1333 1x2gb

Liteon PS-52219AB 220w

Thanx in advance.

So at this point the fact that the led would not turn on with the stock psu points to a bad psu correct. But it does not explain the no video out put with a different psu. My guess at this point from what iv read online, is that either the ram, or the onboard video on the mobo is dead.

No no Gpu. let me try the other ports as u mentioned.

Which GPU is it? You can try the different ports on there as well, it could be that it's faulty - If all else fails try a different cable

The most common result of insufficient wattage is a paperweight that looks like a PC

The emachine i am working on is stock it has only on-board display.

But i do own a gtx 770 in another pc.

sorry i must have not been clear.

Sometimes the on-board display can short out very easily, static build up because of the dust, I have two boards like that. In this case a GPU would almost definitely work fine, try getting something cheap like a gt 610, 630 something in this league
