Good headphones?

So... I'm looking for a good pair of headphones. Not sure what's good. Suggestions?

 

CRITERIA:

-medium to heavy bass

-good quality (maybe 20-30khz <-- just an example)

-comfortable

-open ear (if possible)

-wired (Strait cable if possible)

-within $250

DT990, AKG K612, or Phillips Fidelio X1. The DT990 might be the best choice to get over your sound card's high output impedance though. Sound cards are usually not the best. Most of the time they're just a waste of money.

That's their normal price. Also it's basically the same as the HD518 which is $80 so it's pretty overpriced.

amazon overprices, but always discounts a lot of item to reasonable prices to make you think you're getting a deal.

yea, thats why i added the parts in my post about it now being the normal price.

They've been around $180-190 for the past 2 months or so. The price does fluctuate a bit but I've seen them at that price at other places even if Amazon goes up. And it'll always come down again if it shoots up for a while.

Oh, and 20-30kHz don't mean a thing in quality context. A headphone could go 10-35kHz and still sounds like crap.

 

The good stuffs have been listed. Personally I'd add $50 and get a HE-400, but may need a head amp

Why is frequencyrange even a factor (apart from +- #db)? I mean, not even the most golden ears can hear 30khz or 10hz. I have very good hearing, but even I don't hear anything above 22-23khz.

Just another arbitrary selling point imho.

 

Also, that soundcard will likely not be much better than your onboard as far as headphones are concerned. Meaning, i'd go for a easier-to-drive pair.
