Alright so I built my new build at the beginning of this month. I first had a GTX 780 Ti classified edition but the ROG matrix just became available and I purchase that and returned my classified. now that the Asus 780 ti Direct cu2 got a $150 price cut should I return my matrix and pick up the price dropped direct cu2? I plan on buying the ROG swift asap and the $150 would be nice but I don't want to to preform worse. I don't think it will I'm just wondering. Also before you comment, please don't come in with any prior bias that ROG is over priced crap......

D-d-d-double post!

I recommend EVGA's cards because of their apparently excellent customer support.

ROG isn't crap, however people assume it is the best quality. They're great products, but there are better options for the money.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Honestly I would have stayed with EVGA on the first place, they have great customer support and the price is fair. Performance difference is minimal, on a benchmark chart it might look that the superb ROG stuff is on top, but it's only 1-2 fps that you won't notice on the first place and that you can always adjust yourself by overclocking the GPU.

The Matrix cards are outstanding, but they come with a cost which, unless you have the cash and don't mind paying just for the sake of premium, it's not worth it.

Now you could change it again if it means a $150 extra boost to get the next component (monitor), it's a fair trade if you are willing to wait, the DCUII is a great card it's and the difference with the matrix is, again, quite minimal.

Sorry for double post but in my current situation what do you suggest?

So you have a matrix yes? and want to return it for a DC2? And gain ~150$ in the process? Do it. DCII is great, I have a DCII 780 and it stays pretty cool.

A lot of it is very subjective.  Personally the two brands I trust the most are EVGA and ASUS.   EVGA seems to have more consistent good customer service and offers more product SKUs.  However to me ASUS is just more "solid" and I have had extremely good luck with their Customer service.  I personally went with an Asus DCUII.  It was a disaster getting the card but that wasn't their fault.   It is a good solid card with overclock room.  If I had gone EVGA the results would probably have been identical.

As to your question.  I would not return the Matrix.  It is an amazing card.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

I've got the ASUS GTX 780Ti DCUII http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HSY1RVC and would recommend it. I've used the EVGA GTX 780Ti Kingpin and also a stock EVGA GTX 780Ti SC and still recommend the ASUS.

Obviously, if you plan to do some EXTREME overclocking the Kingpin is the best option but for moderate overclocking and all around performance the ASUS DCUII is excellent! I've also had great experiences with ASUS customer support in the past.

Cooler Master HAF XB EVO, ASUS Maximus VII Hero, i7-4790K @ 4.5GHz, Corsair H100i, EVGA GTX 980Ti SC, Corsair Vengeance Pro 2X8GB 1866Mhz CL9, 2X Crucial M500 960GB, EVGA SuperNOVA 1050 GS, ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q w/ nVidia 3D Vision 2
