Hey,

I've got a 5000$ budget and was thinking about getting this build : http://pcpartpicker.com/user/LordCreeper/saved/bG92FT

But since the X99 came out, I'm not sure what I should get now...

What do you guys recommand me??

This Z97 build :

Or save up a little bit and get http://pcpartpicker.com/user/LordCreeper/saved/bG92FT

This X99 build : http://pcpartpicker.com/user/LordCreeper/saved/DWxRsY

I'll be mainly gaming and video editing..

 Thanks!

For that budget, x99. But ditch the 780tis, they are overpriced. Get 2 or even 3 R9 290s instead, you'll spare a lot of money and have better performance (with 3). You might want to use the saved money on more ram, it's never enough for video editing ^^

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

For gaming the X99 CPU's are simply not of the same level of what you get on Z97 with single threaded performance (and this matters a ton for gaming).

Similarly the X99 performance for Video Editing will be also miles ahead of the Z97 options.

I'd still go with Z97 for now. Everything X99 is still overly expensive and not really groundbreaking and in some cases like gaming inferior.

Case: Define R4 (Black - Window) | PSU: EVGA Supernova 850w Gold | Motherboard: ASUS Z97 Deluxe | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO (250GB) | CPU: Intel i7 4790K (Devil's Canyon) Delidded with CLU  GPU: ASUS STRIX 980 TI | Cooler: Corsair H100i with CLU | Extra: NZXT Hue

well i would wait for the GTX 980, also if u are spending that much, a Rampage V Extreme with a 5960X is ideal. also get something like the EVGA Supernova 1000W P2.

the GTX 980 launch is only 2 weeks away so it is worth it to postpone your build and wait
