so i want to upgrade in a few months, what would yall recommend? Should i get a 770 after the 800(or 900, who the crap knows) gets released so the 700 series is a bit cheaper, or should i get a 800(900) series gpu? or maybe a AMD? (i dont like how hot they are though)

heat is a big thing, my room goes from 21* in the morning to about 25* before lunch time because my system looks like this.

so all the heat is out of my system and into my room xD

Most cases already output heat into the room so not much difference.

Wait for Gtx 900 series to be released and get like a 960 it'll run cooler.

Or see if you can find a decent 280x/290. the heat output isn't huge.

I feel like this is in the wrong sub-forum.

You might as well wait for this expected release of the new gtx series and either buy the new one or the price-dropped 700 series.

Though AMD GPU Cores run hotter, the actual heat output isn't greater. Its simply that AMD packs a lot more onto a smaller die, which makes it more difficult for a heatsink to draw the heat away.

the 290 and 290x are quite efficient compared to previous generations, even compared to Nvidia.

With the recent price drop, a 770 would be an excellent choice.

I'd say get the R9 285 it's a highly efficient(supposedly beating Kepler and the closest thing to Maxwell on the market otherthan the 750s ) and therefore cool card and performs similarly to the 280, 280x and 770 and it's starting price is $250 so with a nice aftermarket cooler it should be perfectly in your budget

I really doubt that your room heats up 4c because of one GPU that's just not realistic. Before getting a new GPU I would upgrade your monitor to something a bit more modern and widescreen and get a decent CPU cooler like the hyper 212. After that I would get an R9 290.
