Mixing RAM

Hey guys, I have a question about RAM, and  In my system I have 4GB of RAM by corsair (1x4GB@1600,C9) and I was wandering if I could install another 4GB stick running at 1600,C9 by another brand and if that would mess my system up or is it just when you mix RAM with different speeds? Thanks
