Making wireless wired

Go to solution Solved by Deddie,

Ok, that's cool. But can you disable the wifi module? Because I don't want the interference

Thx I'll definitely bookmark that :)

Yes there's a switch on the back of it to either use it as a wifi-extender or as a mediabridge (wireless to wired).

But it would be cheaper to get an old router and put dd-wrt on it.

So, I got a pretty solid infrastructure of wifi and cables in my house (router downstairs, cable to upstairs, second router upstairs), but now I kinda have a problem. Over at my TV I have a tv and a mediaplayer which both are network enabled. BUT, only wired. So, I searched the web on tips how to make wireless signal wired. I do know you could you a repeater with ethernet ports. But that's not exactly what I'm looking for. Because I have a good wifi covarage. Now my question is: does anybody know a device that's just dedicated to making wireless wired, or anything close to that? That would be awesome :D

Thx guys

Unfortunately there is such a thing, get an older router put dd-wrt on it, make it a Client+Switch and there you go: sucks up wireless spits out wires.

That's too bad then. O well. Maybe someone will ever invent such a thing. Would be great. :P

To me, that just looks like a wifi repeater? I don't need the device to be outputing wifi...

It looks like a really cool device, but priced around a 170 euro's in the Netherlands, it's a bit overpriced I think xD

I'll soon get a router back I lent to a friend so I'll probably use that to solve the problem.

Thx for the help!

I am usingdd wrt on an old wrt54gs router and I am using it as a wired connection. It is working 1000x better than any pci/usb dongle. You can buy the router for $50 and you can plug four devices in it. Went from 80ms ping/12mb down on pci to 9ms ping/30mb down on dd wrt.
