Ok guys, im planning on upgrading my pc in the near future (anywhere from 2-4 months). If you guys can help me that would be great. My current set up is:

Amd phenom II x2 560

990xa- ud3 gigabyte mobo

16gigs (already upgraded this huehuehue) at 1333Mhz (going to overclock soon)

diamond 6700 series 1gb in crossfirex

650w psu

(dont plan on getting a new harddrive)

anyways i want you guys to keep in mind that im a teenager and that mommy and daddy dont buy me jack (for example if shoes cost +$50, im paying for it). I wont have the luxery to buy the parts all at once so if you guys can tell me in what order to buy the parts in would be a plus :)

Amd FX-8320

Msi n760 gtx 760 2gb (might sli in near future, or should i wait for the 800 series to be released?)

Really dont think i need a new mobo, might just get a new wireless receiver

Corsair ax760 760W psu (pretty sure i wont need it unless i sli later in the future)

Give me your feed back please, and thank you.

Yes since you already own a good quality AM3+ motherboard  go with the FX-8320, as long as you don't go any higher than the R9 280X or GTX 770 GPu you will not notice any major bottleneck for MOST games...if you plan on going into the high end GPU or dual gpu for 1080P you need an intel CPU.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

get a fx 8320 and a r9 280x or r9 280 if you don't have enough money for a 280x and if you have spare change then add in a ssd

ok thanks for the info guys, but why would i need a intel cpu?

Because the FX cores are much slower than any modern intel CPU, for gaming a core i5-3570 or better will do better than an FX chip regardless of the clockspeed (i recently upgraded from the FX-8320@4.6ghz because it was bottlenecking my GTX 780 in many games and the FPS where not what they should have been IE 40FPS...)

But as mentionned, if you are not looking for a top dog GPU or SLI/CFX of medium/high end GPU's you are clear to go.

It also depends on the games you play. do you play MMO's or RPG online?

FX run's MOST modern games to a very acceptable framerate.

Most of these games run's very well on an FX chip, Skyrim and Dayz you will see 30FPS at times...games based on older game engine that run's only a couple of very heavy threads don,t do well with the FX...fortunately the devs are moving away from this scheme and are starting to develop new engine for the new consoles that takes advantage of CPU with multiple core/threads so the FX is likely to do better in modern games, but some multithreaded games still suffer (watchdogs) when they require multiple FAST cpu cores.

Ok thank you, would it be better for me (in the long run) to sell my pc (give me a selling price?) and build a new one or just to upgrade?

no i would defenetly upgrade to the FX-8320 and GTX 770 or R9 280X, this makes a very good gaming PC unless you want to have even better than that...it depends on your budget really, but honestly you have a good motherboard and i think one last upgrade on AMD would be worth it. If you have less cash you could go for the R9 280 it's a solid offering that play games better than the 760 and cost less..

Basicaly make sure you have a good cpu cooler and get the FX 8 core and overclock it, and the pair it with either a 280 or 280X, that's what i would do.

If you have more to spend then get an intel Z97, core i5-4690K and radeon R9 290...this will max out anything for a while.

Your current PSU i think can handle the upgrades just fine, keep it.

If you don't have an aftermarket CPU cooler look for a cooler master hyper 212 they go for 30$ online, great one for overclocking.
