4 year old xeon x5670 vs amd 9590 at turbo 5ghz

Can't overclock the Xeon. The multiplier is locked.

Only base. 

no these older xeons are fully unlocked...like most CPU's from that era.

some turbo different on single vs multi core thats it

really? wow my bad...i thought they where unlocked...i've seen them run at crazy clock speed...i guess this was easier to overclock through the FSB back then?

bclk is still easy if you have a good board. i can run most high end boards up to 175-190 on lga 1150

 

but if you have unlocked chip you dont mess with bclk for daily ocs on modern chips.

 

back in da day it was all about bclk and fsb baby
